News: Seeking the Green in Clean

A new, 40 gallon reactor has been up and running over the past month. This increases our weekly production to 115 gallons. Also, Tuesdays are now available for fuel and volunteering. The co-op will be open Tuesday nights from 5:30-7:30 pm.

Since late November every batch has met ASTM specifications for B100!

Over the past 2-3 weeks we have built several new structures at the co-op. Ian Smith, Ian Venable, and Doug Huizenga have been working on a new automated filtration system that will incorporate more gravity, a mobile drum to catch the filtered grease with a containment and (7) 5 micron sock filters that drain into it. Wade Frisbee engineered a structure to elevate the wash tanks so that separation and draining can be more efficient. Also, Janet Kiley has just filtered and filled her reactor with her first batch of WVO! Go Janet!

The co-op has been steadily producing 75 gallons of B100 from mixed feedstocks. Currently we are receiving donated olive oil from Pfizer in large quantities on top of the WVO we are collecting from local restaurants. We combine the two liquids in order to create a more manageable feedstock solution for our biodiesel production.
